Takara Bio USA is hiring a Director of Product and Market Strategy for NGS to lead global strategy, product management, and commercialization of its Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) portfolio, with a focus on RNA-based solutions. This onsite leadership role in San Jose, CA reports to the VP of Marketing and is responsible for driving growth, innovation, and market impact through cross-functional leadership and scientific expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Product Management
- Lead a team managing the full lifecycle of NGS products, from concept to commercialization.
- Develop and execute market-driven product roadmaps aligned with R&D and corporate goals.
- Oversee timelines, resource allocation, risk management, and post-launch optimization.
Market Strategy & Growth
- Define and lead business strategy for NGS markets, identifying new growth areas and industry trends.
- Build business cases for new opportunities including partnerships, licensing, and acquisitions.
- Act as subject matter expert on NGS market dynamics and competitive landscape.
Strategic Partnerships & Innovation
- Identify and negotiate partnerships, sponsored research programs, and collaborations.
- Align external opportunities with internal capabilities to expand the company’s market reach.
Marketing & Commercial Enablement
- Partner with Sales to set targets and develop go-to-market strategies and marketing campaigns.
- Create product messaging and sales tools (e.g., brochures, digital content, application notes).
- Deliver internal and distributor training, and represent the company at industry events.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS required; MS or PhD preferred in life sciences.
- 18+ years in life science product marketing; 10+ years in team leadership.
- Deep expertise in NGS technologies, applications, and the competitive landscape.
- Proven success in product strategy, commercialization, and external partnership management.
- Strong business acumen, communication, analytical, and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Willing to travel up to 30%, including some international travel.
