Pion is hiring for a Key Account Manager responsible for growing accounts within a Western U.S. territory (preferably based in California). The focus is on identifying and pursuing high-impact sales opportunities, generating leads, managing strategic partnerships, and cross-selling products and services. The role requires close collaboration with marketing, strong customer engagement, and regular reporting of market trends and competitive insights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and grow accounts in assigned territory
- Prospect new customers and cross-sell to existing ones
- Follow up on leads from various sources (web, events, advertising, etc.)
- Develop strategic field service and instrumentation partnerships
- Collaborate with marketing to support commercial initiatives
- Attend regular sales/marketing meetings and stay current on products and industry trends
- Use CRM to track activities and contribute to sales accountability
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences (Chemistry preferred); MBA is a plus
- 1–3 years lab experience and 3–5 years in technical sales
- Strong sales, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally and adapt in fast-paced environments
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to travel up to 60% domestically
- Valid driver's license and passport required
Preferred Location:
- Remote, based in a Western U.S. city (California preferred) with access to a major airport.
